Summary and Objective:
In the past decade, there has been growing evidence indicating that diversity and inclusion are critical predictors of employee behaviors and outcomes. Employees who feel welcomed, valued, respected, and supported by their coworkers and managers not only produce their best work but enjoy more satisfying personal lives as well. Because work and personal lives are intertwined, any imbalance between them can potentially affect not only an employee’s ability to fully engage on the job but also an employer’s ability to achieve company and agency goals. A diverse, engaged, motivated workforce is essential to both a healthy bottom line and a strong competitive advantage in the marketplace.
