Medicare Today and in the Future

Three hours General Insurance CE credit

Instructor: Patrick D. Hatting, MBA, ChFC, CLU, CASL, LUTCF

Medicare is a national health insurance program in the United States, begun in 1985 under the Social Security Administration and is now administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  Medicare works with other insurance to coordinate who pays first.  The primary payer is the insurance that pays for your medical bills first, up to the coverage limits, and then sends the remaining balance to the secondary payer.  Medicare covers the cost of treatment in public hospitals and subsidizes the cost of a wide range of health services and medications.

Medicare provides health insurance coverage to individuals who are age 65 and over, under age 65 with certain disabilities, and individuals of all ages with end stage renal disorder (ESRD).  Medicaid provides medical benefits to groups of low-income people, some who may have no medical insurance or inadequate medical insurance.

This class will introduce you to Medicare and it will refresh your knowledge on Medicare.  It will reveal updates and recent changes to Medicare.
