Ethics & The Afterlife 103435-3-IA
3 CE credits • Tracy Freese, MA, CTEP®
- IA Course No. 103435 (Ethics)
When death, money, and emotion collide, fiduciary ethics can blur. We will discuss fiduciary principles and give best practices during probate processes when handling real property like homes, cars, land, and valuable personal belongings. We will also have detailed discussions about preparing and maintaining a digital legacy after death. External forces can add to or detract from one’s digital legacy, but should they? In today’s hectic digital age, property transcends physical space as value is increasingly defined both in both physical and virtual reality. This course will look at proper ethics when dealing with financial, physical, and digital assets during the estate process. Taught by a tenured trust and estate professional, all material should not be taken as legal advice but rather guidance on how to minimize risk through the practice of ethical standards. Examples and real world cases/examples will be used throughout to illustrate concepts.
NOTICE: The R.I.P. Roadmap (8:30-11:20am) and Physical and Digital Probate (12:00-2:50pm) are also offered on this date at this location.
