Farm and Ranch Insurance: A History Lesson
Course Objective:
Insurance in one form or another has been in existence for as long as man has been social. From hunting in groups to pooling resources to cover potential loss, there has been a need to “insure” against a catastrophe. Knowing how insurance began and understanding the original needs for coverage can help to understand what has led to today’s approach to insurance. The adage “knowing our history helps us to not repeat our past mistakes” applies to today’s needs and coverage.
This course will cover the beginnings of insurance in Europe and how it moved with early settlers to America. It will the follow the migration to the mid-west and the new needs developed by the lifestyle and work habits especially in the farm and ranch fields.
