Course Objective:
Half a century ago, a product was born–simple nursing home coverage for an aging Greatest Generation. Public sentiment, policymaker inputs, and insurance and provider innovation have changed the landscape. Today’s insurance professional must be able to advise clients on the many options and products that can help address the potential need and cost of long-term care services. During this course, participants will learn about what long-term care is, explore the evolution of the long-term care policy features and benefits, delve into the progression and importance of consumer suitability guidelines, and study the state and federal regulations and requirements, as well as the relationship between qualified state long-term care insurance Partnership programs and other public and private coverage of long-term care services, including Medicaid. They will learn about the available long-term care services and providers, as well as changes or improvements in long-term care services or providers. Also taught will be the alternatives to the purchase of long-term care insurance as well as the effect of inflation on benefits and the importance of inflation protection.
This course is specifically designed to meet the continuing education requirement for licensed producers who have completed the initial 8-hour long-term care training program.
