NEW COURSE: Supplemental Catastrophe Coverage for Homeowners (P&C course)

Course Description
Are there potential risk gaps in homeowner insurance plan coverages? What are Supplemental Catastrophe Coverage plans and how do they fit into the average homeowner’s insurance coverage program?
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have done the following:
1. Analyze the policy language for supplemental Accident and Health coverage, Parametric policies, and Supplemental Catastrophe coverage for homeowners.
2. Identify gaps in standard A&H and Homeowners policies.
3. Analyze definition of loss and indemnity as well as coverage triggers.
4. Analyze differences in claims handling. What is considered proof of loss for supplemental policies and standard policies,
5. Explore concept of defined benefit in insurance coverage.
6. Analyze how the contraction of coverage for property perils has increased demand for policies that fill the gaps in coverage.
7. Analyze the responsibility of an insurance agent to make aware to their clients of products that may be helpful to mitigate coverages.
